Available rootstocks

• Gisela 5®Gisela 5®GI 148-2. Prunus canescens x Prunus cerasus obtained in Germany by the University of Giessen. Low vigour, does not produce suckers and induces high productivity. Susceptible to Pseudomonas, Coccomyces, Phytophthora and Armillaria, slightly susceptible to crown gall (Agrobacterium T.). Suited to cool, fertile soils. Excellent for high-density plantings on irrigated soils, where it induces early bearing and also improves fruit size.VigourLime toleranceTolerance to root asphyxiaTolerance to replant disease
• Gisela 6®Gisela 6®GI 148-1. Prunus canescens x Prunus cerasus obtained in Germany by the University of Giessen. Medium-low vigour. Susceptible to Pseudomonas, Coccomyces, Phytophthora and Armillaria, slightly susceptible to crown gall (Agrobacterium T.). Improves fruit size and brings ripening forward. Suited to high-density, irrigated plantings.VigourLime toleranceTolerance to root asphyxiaTolerance to replant disease
• Gisela 12®Gisela 12®P. canescens x P. cerasus. New dwarfing rootstock inducing vigour similar to Gisela® 6, but with stronger growth in some conditions: in Europe it has been used at sites where Gisela® 6 had given stability problems (windy areas with heavy rainfall). It induces more controlled productivity than Gisela® 5 and Gisela® 6, early bearing and excellent fruit size. With regular pruning this excellent characteristic can be maintained over time. Gisela® 12 also adapts to warmer climates than Gisela® 6 and is classified as tolerant to PDV and PNRSV.VigourLime toleranceTolerance to root asphyxiaTolerance to replant disease
• Gisela 13®Gisela 13®P. canescens x P. cerasus. New dwarfing rootstock of the Gisela® family. Gisela® 13 induces vigour similar to Gisela® 6, giving excellent yield and fruit quality with lower water requirements, and can be used for replanting. Gisela® 13 keeps the excellent characteristics of the traditional Gisela rootstocks, such as the absence of suckers, excellent graft compatibility and a wide angle of the lateral branches. It is the hardiest dwarfing Gisela® currently on the market.VigourLime toleranceTolerance to root asphyxiaTolerance to replant disease
• Gisela 17®Gisela 17®P. canescens x P. avium. New rootstock of the Gisela® family, Gisela® 17 is semi-dwarfing, with growth similar to Maxma 14. It induces early bearing and excellent fruit size. It is the hardiest of the Gisela® rootstocks and can also be used for replanting. Its production is more controlled than that of the more dwarfing Gisela rootstocks, especially with self-fertile cultivars. It is classified as tolerant to PDV and PNRSV.VigourLime toleranceTolerance to root asphyxiaTolerance to replant disease
• MaxMa 60®MaxMa 60®Prunus avium x Prunus mahaleb obtained in the USA. Medium-high vigour, does not produce suckers, induces excellent productivity. Suited to medium-textured soils, including hillsides, as it is drought-resistant. A widely adaptable rootstock that is meeting with growing success.VigourLime toleranceTolerance to root asphyxiaTolerance to replant disease
• ColtColtPrunus avium x Prunus pseudocerasus. Medium-high vigour (20% compared with seedling rootstock), with good anchorage. Resistant to replant disease (very suitable for replanting). Highly susceptible to Agrobacterium tumefaciens. Productivity similar to seedling rootstock.VigourLime toleranceTolerance to root asphyxiaTolerance to replant disease
• P. mahaleb SL 64P. mahaleb SL 64Suited to loose, light, stony and calcareous soils, provided they are well drained; very susceptible to root asphyxia, A. tumefaciens and many root diseases. The root system is tap-rooted, with excellent anchorage and little suckering. Vigour is lower than seedling rootstock but varies with the origin of the seeds; yield efficiency and productivity are also higher than seedling rootstock.VigourLime toleranceTolerance to root asphyxiaTolerance to replant disease
• Franco (P. avium)Franco (P. avium)Suited to deep, cool soils, even somewhat heavy ones; sensitive to drought, tolerates lime and moderate asphyxia; not very suitable for replanting. Very vigorous and slow to come into bearing, it is used where mahaleb cannot be. The Mazzard seedling selection F12/1 has by now been abandoned because of its high vigour and unsatisfactory productivity and fruit quality.VigourLime toleranceTolerance to root asphyxiaTolerance to replant disease
• Cab 6PCab 6PSelection of P. cerasus obtained by the University of Bologna. Good adaptability to different soil types. Moderate suckering. Medium-high vigour. Moderate anchorage. Adapts to compact, heavy and waterlogged soils. Sensitive to water shortage and Armillaria, tolerant to Phytophthora and Verticillium. Brings ripening forward by a few days compared with Colt and F12. Suitable for medium-density plantings on fertile soils.VigourLime toleranceTolerance to root asphyxiaTolerance to replant disease
